the street style trends of the AW24 season

As the autumn/winter 2024 season of the “Big Four”, the main fashion weeks in London, New York, Milan and Paris, draws to a close, it is already possible to identify the major trends that have been turning to The guests.

Interest in the metallic silver color, an oversized bag as a traveling companion, the rebirth of the Western style or even the return of comfortable outfits with flat shoes: the participants of the AW24 Fashion Week once again proved that enthusiasm for Fashion is not limited to the catwalks.

Rush for money

On sunny days it reflects the sun and creates radiant moments while in winter fog it still offers bright spots: silver was particularly popular this season, worn on festive occasions due to its versatility, but also adopted in casual everyday looks.

Fashion enthusiasts wore silver dresses enhanced with details such as delicate cutouts. Silver could also be combined with comfortable gray knitwear, oversized glasses and quirky hair accessories for a more casual style. He was seen in less strict office looks, combining a burgundy-colored sweater, a matching bag and “Gazelle” sneakers, one of Adidas' must-have models.

Nothing new in the West

After a multitude of street styles straight out of the Wild West spotted at the Pitti Uomo show in Florence in January, cowboys celebrated their big comeback a few weeks later. American singer Beyoncé's latest musical release “Texas Hold 'Em'” and its associated campaign featuring cowboy hats have likely accelerated the resurgence of this fashion phenomenon.

A variety of leather boots and extravagant fringed jackets appeared on the streets of London, Paris, Milan and New York, often paired with short denim dresses or black trousers. Cowhide-effect fur jackets and low-rise straight jeans, combined with cowboy hats and untamed curly hair, gave big cities a vibe straight from the Wild West.

Monochrome color palettes

Despite the emergence of the mob wife style, quiet luxury continues to be adopted by fashion enthusiasts. After years of decadence, the trend toward stylish minimalism continues. In addition to underlying trends such as the coffee-inspired “latte” color palette, the focus for FW24 is on coordinated outfits, with an increased focus on color choice. Exciting contrasts are achieved using combinations of materials.

A white outfit consisting of a jacket and high-waisted pants was elevated with the help of a cropped knit sweater. Cubic earrings and oversized glasses completed the look. A fuchsia-colored wool coat stood out, matched with pants in the same shade and leopard-print ankle boots. Materials such as jersey, leather and satin were paired with colorful contrasting shoes.

Shoulder open

The sweaters are chosen draped on the shoulders, recalling the style of Princess Lady Diana in the 1990s or the cult American series “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”. Whether tied at the collarbone or worn openly on the back and upper body, the cozy sweater makes a statement with its elegant style. The addition of sneakers or oversized blazers helps create sophisticated but relaxed silhouettes.

An all-white merino wool sweater was worn with a shirt, aviator glasses and braids. A lace blouse, pearl bracelet and leather ankle boots guaranteed an elegant office look.

Return to earth

Goodbye to the popular proverb “You have to suffer to be beautiful”: flat shoes have managed to find a place of choice in guest looks this season. They are synonymous with comfort, allowing feet to breathe during fashion weeks that can be hectic.

Fashion enthusiasts turned to models that have become essential such as an imposing pair by Ganni, flat shoes encrusted with crystals by Alaïa or a studded version by Miu Miu. The most daring have combined them with white tights, a long cowhide-effect coat, leather pieces or an extravagant bag.

(Little) companions

For the AW24 season, the fashion is no longer for mini-bags but for oversized models that can accommodate a larger quantity of objects, whether necessary or superfluous.

The XXL bag completed a silhouette with a Mob Wife aesthetic, composed of a faux fur coat and black Mary Janes. A yellow model, meanwhile, broke the monochrome look of a predominantly black outfit. For a head-to-toe “double denim” look, a large denim bag was added to dark blue denim pants with contrast stitching.
